The Edelrautehütte At an altitude of 1,725 m, Hohentauern can be reached on foot (5.5 km) or by car via the toll road. It is the ideal starting point for exploring the nearby large Scheibelsee lake or climbing the surrounding mountains (e.g., Bösenstein 2,448 m; Großer Hengst 2,159 m).
The stunning mountain region around Hohentauern, which Triebener and Rottenmanner Tauern, as well as the nearby Gesäuse mountains, offer so many peaks worth experiencing and climbing that it is always worthwhile to come to Hohentauern.
The Hohentauern Fishing Club Fishing is permitted on the "Großer Scheiblsee," one of the most beautiful mountain lakes in the Niedere Tauern range, situated at an altitude of 1700 meters. Fishing is also allowed at the Weberteich pond. Besides trout and char, the Weberteich also contains large carp. Fresh trout can be purchased directly from the Wuitz trout farm, located only about 1.5 km from Chalet Triebenstein, from natural ponds fed by pure spring water.
In the Rock and cave world You can wander through tunnels and admire the mountain arena, the small and large cathedral, climb the Himmelstreppe (20 m via ferrata A0 at the top), enjoy sunbeams in the climbing arena, whiz down the 70 m long slide, be carefree - there's plenty of adventure here!
